Some dinners are special, and then there are the rare ones that define a season.

We are fortunate to host an evening with a producer who fundamentally reshaped an entire region and sparked a global movement: Mount Etna’s iconic Benanti winery.

Winemaking in the Benanti family traces back to the late 1800s in Viagrande, but it was Giuseppe Benanti who established the namesake estate in 1988. Set upon the steep, volcanic slopes of Etna, the family crafts extraordinary bottles using exclusively native grapes like Carricante, Nerello Mascalese, and Nerello Cappuccio. Today, Giuseppe’s sons, Antonio and Salvino, carry that legacy forward, producing some of the most sought-after, terroir-driven wines in all of Italy.

This evening unfolds over five courses from the Restaurant Olivia culinary team, paired alongside six exceptional Benanti wines. We will journey around every slope of the volcano to showcase a wide spectrum of styles, from the vibrant sparkling Noblesse 48 Metodo Classico to absolute legends such as Pietramarina and Serra della Contessa 587. Then a side-by-side comparison of two distinct Contrade: Cavaliere and Dafara Galluzzo.

Antonio Benanti will guide the conversation throughout the night, pulling back the curtain on his family’s heritage, the nuances of volcanic viticulture, and the magic bottled within each vintage.

For our team, this gathering is deeply personal. Both our wine director and lead sommelier walked the Benanti vineyards earlier this year, reaffirming why these bottles hold a permanent home on our list and in our hearts.
