Giro d’Italia Apericena
with Alexander Durfee
hosted by Scott Thomas
Apericena (a-pair-ee-chaina) - a social hour that begins as an aperitivo and segues into a wine-filled dinner.
We can call this a sip and learn, a wine class, or just a great excuse to gather in conviviality as we explore wines.
Join us for the next edition of our Apericena educational series, an immersive evening of Italian wine, food, and conversation featuring special guest Alexander Durfee, National Sales Manager for the renowned importer Oliver McCrum Wine & Spirits.
Oliver McCrum curates one of the most compelling Italian portfolios in the country, with a deep commitment to small grower-producers. This night will spotlight native varieties such as Pelaverga Piccolo, Corvina, Lagrein, Carricante, and Nerello Mascalese, along with familiar favorites like Sangiovese and Chianti Classico.
Alexander will lead a guided tasting of nine wines as we take a Giro d’Italia, a tour from North to South, from Piedmont to Sicily, exploring styles from white to red and uncovering rare gems and regional expressions along the way.
The Restaurant Olivia culinary team will accompany the tasting with apericena-style fare including charcuterie, two light pasta courses, and dessert.
Expect lively conversation, discovery, and one of the most thoughtfully selected lineups of Italian wine you’ll find anywhere.
Reception at 6:00, sit-down tasting begins at 6:15.
