Piedmont Wine Dinner
with Carlo Deltetto
of Deltetto Winery
We’ll admit it: we’re crazy about Piedmont. Thus, it’s a real pleasure to welcome Carlo Deltetto, third-generation co-owner and winemaker, to our table for one evening.
The Deltetto family has long been a pillar of the Roero, the sandy hills just across the Tanaro River from the Langhe. Their work goes well beyond it, though. They’ve been devoted keepers of Arneis, the Roero’s native white. They’ve championed Nebbiolo across Piedmont’s great appellations. And they were early believers in traditional-method sparkling wine, including Alta Langa, long before the rest of the world caught on.
Over the evening we’ll taste Nebbiolo four ways: Metodo Classico sparkling, Langhe Nebbiolo, Roero Riserva, and their flagship Barolo, “Carlo il Fondatore”. Alongside them we’ll pour Arneis two ways, from the crisp “San Michele” to the rare sweet version “Bric du Liun.” Then comes one of the wines we’re most excited about in a long time, the DT 10, a traditional-method sparkling aged ten years before release. It’s made in such tiny quantities that it has never before been poured in Colorado. We’ll feature seven wines in total.
Around our community table, Carlo will share his philosophy of winemaking and stories of his family’s work preserving Arneis and pioneering Piedmontese sparkling wine, while our culinary team crafts five courses to accompany each wine.
Carlo is one of Piedmont’s great ambassadors. He’s also a true gentleman and a longtime friend of Restaurant Olivia, which is why his wines have never left our list.
